APPLICATIONS / USES OF TEAK WOOD

Continuing our Blog dedicated to Teak wood ( Tectona Grandis ), we are going to talk about its ideal uses.

Due to its excellent characteristics, it is ideal for the following uses:

-Manufacture of high quality furniture.

-Furniture and exterior carpentry.

-Facade coatings.

-Port infrastructure and bridges.

-Torneados.

One of the properties that make it ideal for exterior works is its characteristic oil (antiseptic resin), which makes it resistant to the attack of various organisms such as fungi, termites…

And as a star application, Teak wood is used for shipbuilding and ship repair, due to its high durability, mechanical properties and natural oil. It has a high resistance to sunlight, absorbs excellently the characteristic movements of boats and perfectly withstands inclement weather.

It can be installed on straight decks and as it has a great elasticity in the installation of sailboat corridors with great curvature it is the best option.

It is a wood that is in great demand and it is becoming more and more common to demand certificates so we also have the option of FSC-CW certified Teak Wood.
